Chocolate Orange Cake Recipe

Orange Cake

This is a lovely chocolate orange cake recipe. It's quick and easy to bake for your family and friends. This recipe is in my top list of homemade goodies for the holidays or simply to touch someone!

The orange gives it just a hint of tangy taste with creamy chocolate.Try this for something different than the usual basic chocolate.

180gm butter

180gm brown sugar

220gm self-raising flour

30gm cocoa powder

4 large eggs

1 orange (grated rind and juice)

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time. Fold in alternately with sifted dry ingredient
  4. Mix in orange juice and rind.
  5. Grease and line a 22cm round cake tin with grease-proof paper.
  6. Pour mixture into cake tin and bake in preheated oven at 170°C for 40-45minutes or until the skewer comes out clean.

Quick and Easy Tips:
Do not be over enthusiatic in the creaming of butter and sugar. Once the mixture turns pale, stop the creaming. Over creaming will cause your cake to turn out oily.
